Tangible Planning Solutions is a small independent consulting firm that specialise in the provision of strategic & statutory town planning advices, environmental assessments, cultural heritage and CPTED audits, and project coordination services to the development industry. Originally founded in 2003 (as Miller Blackburn-Smith & Associates) and in 2013 renamed Tangible Planning Solutions, our firm possesses broad industry experience and expertise in all forms of development. The team at TPS can provide practical and sound advice to our clients, leading to economically and sustainable environmental solutions tailored specifically to their projects.

 

Currently, our firm’s clients include a number of large national companies that are market leaders in the property development industry. This has included small and large-scale commercial and retail projects, medium-density residential developments, and strategic land use assessments.

 

We also provide cost effective services to small developers just seeking to navigate their way through the labyrinth of Council DA requirements. This includes dwellings, dual occupancies, secondary dwelling and medium density developments.

We are well-respected in the industry and have good working relationships with local councils and state planning authorities in NSW.

LET'S MEET

Murray has over 25 years experience in town planning and cultural heritage management.

 

Over the course of his career, Murray has developed a sound and proficient understanding of land use planning, development and cultural heritage. He has practical experience in the application of the NSW planning and environmental law across a broad spectrum of development including commercial, industrial and residential land projects. He has held senior planning positions across metropolitan and regional NSW including at development companies (Principle Living Pty Ltd), Town Planning Consultancies (City Plan Pty Ltd) and Local Government Authorities (Newcastle City, Snowy River, Nambucca, Ku-ring-gai and Wollahra Councils). 

 

Murray has also coordinated and assisted in the preparation of a number of strategic and land use planning policy documents. In particular, he has been responsible for the drafting of planning provisions relating to LG wide principal plans as well as LEP amendments for new and established settlements and for residential, commercial and industrial development.

 

Murray has acted as an advocate in the NSW Land & Environment Court and has also appeared as an expert town planning witness in court proceedings and arbitrations.

  • Bachelor of Arts in Geography (UNE)

  • Certificate in Land & Engineering Survey Drafting (TAFE)
